Recognition of the Dolphin Inn, Grampound as an Asset of Community Value
Cornwall Council have declined to re-register the Dolphin as an Asset of Community Value, despite a request from your Parish Council and in spite of it having been registered twice before.
Registration only affects community assets where there is a proposal to change the use and would give the community a 6 month period to try to take the asset into community ownership, so registration is only a protection against any future change of use.
The PC has approached the All Party Parliamentary Group for Beer (APPG) as their purpose includes “to increase understanding of the social, cultural and historic role of brewing and pubs in the UK”. The APPG have suggested that the first step to putting parliamentary pressure on Cornwall Council to reverse their decision is to have a Parliamentary Petition accepted by Parliament and they have liaised with our new MP, Noah Law, to get one started.
